Food photography, art or necessity … Just how important are photos or digital images?
Well, when you have a bed & breakfast and rely on your website to show guests exactly what they will experience at your inn … they’re extremely important! Before the inn opened for business, my photos were taken by Christian of Christian Giannelli Photography. He took fabulous photos of the guest rooms, common areas and the grounds but I completely forgot about food photography. Honestly, it didn’t even cross my mind! Needless to say they weren’t the best – I had about 10 minutes to come up with a couple of breakfast dishes so the web site would have something. It was a lesson in chaos trying to get ready for opening and then putting our best foot forward for the website. Luckily I had worked with Christian before and he knew I wasn’t always that flaky … at least that’s what he told me!
I just finished an exhilarating photo shoot with Lindsay from Eppich Photography. Working with Lindsay is always a treat. She often takes photos of elopements and weddings here at Antlers on the Creek (She is also our official Wedding Cake Taster). I was able to draw on my experience in cooking as well as interior design to help create exactly what I had envisioned. It’s amazing how a tweak here or an edit there will impact a photo. There is definitely a look I crave to project to my guests. Hopefully these new photos will make you crave the incredible edibles that come out of the kitchen here – we serve some of the best breakfasts in Durango!
It is a known fact that “you first eat with your eyes,” so it was crucial to prepare dishes that are both delicious and attractive. Something that would make your mouth water in anticipation just looking at the pics. Between Chef Kurtis and team member Heather, we were able to get some great images of Antlers’ favorite breakfast dishes but alas, we couldn’t get them all!
So what are you waiting for!?! Winter rates are in effect… you’ll get a great rate (the best of the year!) and I promise you won’t go away from the table hungry!
