We are so excited to have Colleen Clausen from Lilia Floral Design on board here at Antlers on the Creek. Colleen will be designing and producing fresh flower bouquets for our guest rooms and common areas at the inn. Even more exciting though, she will be collaborating with our brides to produce our wedding flowers! She specializes in locally farmed flowers; seasonal, sustainable blooms organically grown right here in Durango, Colorado.
Floral design is Colleen’s passion and it shows. Since she uses locally grown flowers, our bouquets now look like we were passing through the garden and decided to pick a few flowers … albeit much more elegant. Colleen just makes it look that simple! She is also involved in a project that enables brides to donate their wedding flowers to home-bound seniors through the La Plata County Senior Center.
Colleen has joined forces with our delightful gardener, Nikki and Antlers will have its very own cutting garden next Summer! Hmmm, do you think we can call this Field to Table? Nikki is busy planting bulbs, bulbs and more bulbs … pray that the deer don’t eat them before we can enjoy them. Perennial flowers from peonies, dahlias, delphiniums to alliums will grace our gardens next year. We also found a hydrangea TREE and planted two!
It has taken us three years to get our gardens into shape and thanks to Mother Nature with an abundance of help from Nikki Wilson from La Jardinera Gardening, they are doing great this year! Iris abound all over our hill to the point we transplanted them to other areas of the grounds. There are flowers upon flowers that we didn’t know were here. Shades of blues and purples peek through oceans of oranges & yellows. We are even planting an herb garden!
Come check out these two talented women and all the work they’ve put into helping make Antlers on the Creek the #1 Luxury Bed & Breakfast in the Durango area … and don’t forget … Prepare to be Pampered!
