Come on down to the 2016 Durango Bluegrass Meltdown, April 15, 16 & 17th. This is the 22nd year for the Bluegrass Meltdown in Durango and for three days Bluegrass music abounds in Southwestern Colorado!
Our Favorite Bluegrass Festival Events…
The Meltdown kicks off with a concert at the Powerhouse Science Center. It is rapidly becoming one of the festival’s most popular events … and it’s free! Friday, 5 – 7 p.m., 1333 Camino Del Rio alongside the Animas River.
Dust off your dancing shoes and get on over to the “The Old Time Barn Dance” with the Six Dollar String Band on Saturday, from 7:30 – 10 P.M., at the Durango Elks Lodge. Ten years ago after recognizing the popularity of the old time music, the Meltdown introduced the Old Time Barn Dance at the Elks. The Lodge is the perfect setting for tapping your toes or do-si-doing with your favorite partner! The Old Time Barn Dance has turned into a “can’t miss” evening. There’s no need for a babysitter … this family friendly event entertains all ages. Kids from 1 to 91 will enjoy cutting a rug on the Elk’s dance floor.
The newest main stage venue for 2016 is the Wild Horse Saloon. The Saloon is well known around Durango by the locals as a country bar but during the Meltdown, Bluegrass rocks! There’s plenty of room for dancing and a large area for enjoying a local brew with friends, old & new.
